currently in munich, germany.
when i was young, i didn’t know one could work with cinema. or photography. or any arts for that matter. to me, it all seemed so distant and unattainable, like an alien world that was beyond my reach.
however, i’ve always been a big fan of stories, and some of my earliest memories are related to reading and storytelling. i remember how much i loved it when my mom or dad would read to me before bed. as i grew older, we got our first computer, a cpu 386, and i started writing an epic novel about an entire country that mysteriously disappears, as well as a children’s book about a sad cloud that makes it rain all the time. unfortunately, i (still have) never finished these stories.
fast forward to college time: i had to decide what i want to major, which could mean what i am going to do with my life for the rest of the time i have on this pale blue dot and, with my little knowledge, i opted to study “advertising”. i didn’t know much about it back then and, for a long time, i thought i had made the wrong decision. but it was during my time in college that i was first exposed to photography and cinema, and it all felt so natural to me. i even started taking theatre classes, and being surrounded by these new worlds made me feel like i had finally found my
– ikigai (生き甲斐) –
storytelling has always had a tremendous impact on my life, and its cathartic and entertaining qualities have helped to shape who i am today. looking back, i realize that the path and time it took me to get here was exactly how it should have been, despite and because of it all.
at the end of the day, there is still a story about a sad cloud inside of me, waiting to be told in its entirety.
